Re: replacing auger blade on Sears snowthrower

Thanks, Marty!
I have the thing apart now, did it the long way... fortunately the machine is just nicely out of warranty so things were not badly corroded.
When Sears calls on you to design the next generation of snowthrowers, get them to make removable sides to the bucket or a two-piece drive shaft. ; )

replacing auger blade on Sears snowthrower

Greetings, All!
I have an 11 hp ohv Sears Craftsman snowthrowerand I have to replace the rh auger blade which is on a sleeve fitting over a shaft. I am trying to bring the entire auger assembly out of the housing to get clearance to remove the blade, but the shaft from the impeller will not come loose (although I've taken out the bolts holding the impeller to the shaft and it just spins, so that's not holding it)...
so... the question: do I have to split the machine and go in from the drive side? and... what is the function of that roll pin? and, most of all, is there a quicker way to do this, ideally before the next snowfall brings us to 5 feet on the ground? ; )
