I have a last year platinum 24 as well. Not real happy with the rotational chute control either. I think they should offer a rebuild kit as it just isn't precise and flops around. I'd be interested in making changes if I knew what to change. I bought Ariens after using them my whole life. When I finally get in a position to buy a new one I find myself in this position. This isn't the cheap model, I shouldn't have issues. If it was an adjustment, it wouldn't have been redesigned. What should be done with this?

Can you retrofit a 2010/2011 to the new control system/dash? Does it use the same handles from the base to the control panel?

Of course, the year after I get a platinum a cast gearbox is standard. Oh well. Did anyone else's polar force motor sticker on the gas tank fall off? Mine did in 1week. Kinda irked me.

If you are paying more than $1299 for the 24 platinum, you are paying too much. Home depot has it for 1299 with free shipping. They shipped mine to the local Ariens dealer for setup. I bought a set if slides and shear pins and everyone was happy.

The other option is to sign up on the home depot site for a new homeowner package. I did that first and they send a 10% discount coupon for in store purchases via email the same day. You can buy the 30"platinum in the store. The 24" is only available online thus the need to use the code that must have been corrected. Hope that helps. I hate paying what everyone else pays!
