I should also mention that the 7524 has a Briggs OHC engine, vs. the 926 with a Tecumseh L-head. Any quality/reliability fears I should have making the change?

Ariens 7524 v 926LE

Hi -
New member here.
I currently have an Ariens 7524 compact 2 stage. Good machine, no frills and runs very well. My problem is that sometimes the machine feels just a little too small for our Boston winters. It has a hard time getting through the end of my driveway when the plows pass, and can't handle more than 8 inches or so without multiple passes.
My local lawn & garden shop has two 926LE models left in stock and they are holding one for me for a few days. Am I going to see a significant difference if I upgrade? I paid $699 for the 7524 just two years ago and the shop is willing to give me $500 on a trade. Good deal financially, but is it worth it?
Thanks
Michael
