Help with Toro Power Max 8260XE vs. Simplicity L1226E
#2 Dec 21, 2010 10:11 pm |

Will anyone who has owned a Simplicity Snow Thrower give me their opinion of the L1226E. My other choice is the 826XE, which I have read good information about on this forum. Years ago, we had a Simplicity Wonder-Boy lawn mower with a Briggs engine; everything was real quality, and it still is a decent mower. Both the Toro and Simplicity are 26 in with about the same CC; wonder why the Simplicity is 249 cc while the Toro is 250 cc, Since they are both Briggs & Stratton, would they not be the same engine. Although I found the Simplicity to be $100 less, that is not a factor. If they both run with the same engine, and cost about the same, are they both of the same quality. Does anyone know if Toro owns Simplicity, but continues to manufacture the Simplicity under its name. Thanks.

Re: Removing Choke Knob on Ariens 926 Pro with Tecumseh OHSK 80-130 engine

Thanks. We were, with effort, able to remove the knob from the shaft. I was afraid that something would break, but the knob did come off the shaft, and we were able to get to the carb.

Removing Choke Knob on Ariens 926 Pro with Tecumseh OHSK 80-130 engine

I am trying to remove the cover of the Tecumseh engine to get to the carb. All the screws are removed. However, I am unable to remove the Choke Knob. I thought it would just slip off the shaft. However, it appears to be attached inside the cover, which I want to remove to get to the carb. Ariens has the knob well attached to the choke shaft. I think I will have to drain the fuel, then tip the blower on edge to see how it is attached. Or, maybe I can get to the connection from underneath the cover. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks, gary

Re: Advice for buying a new snowblower...

Any thoughts about buying an Ariens with the B&S winter engine. Looks as if Ariens has changed mfg. from Tecumseh to Briggs. I have a 5yr. old 926 Pro )926004-ST926DLE which I bought from recommendations here. However, from the get-go, I have only had problems with the engine starting. After the first year, and not that much snow, the starter would crank, but not engage. (My issue is that I went to Buffalo to get this model as Cleveland was out of them). Now, the engine will not start unless you starting fluid. After we do get it started, use it awhile, then shut if off, it will not start again without priming and some choke. Does anyone have any ideas as it seems to me that it must be the carburetor. The spark is decent, and I installed a new Champion RN4C plug. I am thinking of draining all the gas, then using premium. thanks, Gary
