mtd snow blowers are cheaply built,  8hp 27"

plastic chutes that won't stay where there aimed,

front scoops that are way too thin of metal, bottom corners keep bending in, paint is chipped off and now rusting

front awgers are too small in diameter, over a foot of snow , and the awgers cant keep up

to top it off , the drive wheel gear cluster seises after every use,i have to kick the wheels in order to free up the drive wheels, just to get to machine to move

dealer says " it's an inharent problem, that no one will fix, steel un bushinged gears in an always wet / moist enviroment" spaying it with grease only lasts for a couple of uses ,then starts to seise up again....CHEAP>>CHEAP>>CHEAP

and my machine is only three years old

MTD 's use too be a dam good snowblower, my last one i had for 20 years, and sold it for a new one ( engine was burning oil ) CHEAP  CHEAP  CHEAP........it will probably outlast my new one

hind sight...should have had the engine rebuilt in stead of buying new

saving up for a honda  :)
