Re: Honda Snowblower Engine Question
#1   Oct 22, 2010 5:30 pm
Found more information here: http://www.honda-engines-eu.com/en/welcome.html

Looks like the GX160 and GX200 will get the same updates next year.

Still don't know if these engines are on the current production snowblowers. Have not heard back from Honda yet.
Honda Snowblower Engine Question
#2   Oct 21, 2010 7:38 am
Hi all

Anyone know if the current year 928 series Honda snowblowers have this engine?  http://engines.honda.com/models/model-detail/gx270

From the description, this would seem to be a great series of upgrades to the GX270. More power, better economy, less noise ("Improved camshaft and muffler reduce overall engine noise by up to 5 dB "). lower emissions. I've tried a few web searches to see if I could come up with an answer, but with limited success. I can't seem to find an engine code associated with this revision, but that could be because I'm not checking the right spots. I am still quite new to the "OPE" world. :)

My neighbour has a 2008 928 WAS, and while it is pretty quiet, a 5dB decrease in noise would be quite a significant improvement. I did drop into a local Honda dealer, but the sales guy didn't know. Problem is they have no new stock yet, so we couldn't even examine a machine to see if there was some indication the motor was different from last year's stock. The mechanic was a bit more helpful, and offered to check with Honda and get back to me. That was a few days ago, however, and I have yet to hear back from him. In any case, if anyone can shed some light on this, it would be appreciated.

Thanks everyone

PS Looks like the GX340 has also received the same upgrades, so the 1132 series would also benefit from this: http://engines.honda.com/models/model-detail/gx340. However, it does not appear as if the GX200 has changed: http://engines.honda.com/models/model-detail/gx200
