Older Craftsman RIDING Mower...

I have 2 older Sears Grey Riding Mowers... Both Models 917.255741.  My Original one: When I have in neutral (6 Speed forward, 1 reverse) I can PUSH IT or PULL IT Around OK.. But The newer one (looks like the older one but has a Safety Switch under the seat) "REVERSES One Wheel" from the other... when trying to PUSH it BY HAND Forward OR REVERSE to Move it without Starting it. (Strange? The Old One Does NOT DO THAT In NEUTRAL)  Maybe someone could HELP Me figure Out WHY It does that?  Once I had It started, It Drove OK, "DRIVE" Belt Seemed Looser than Normal but It Drove in all speeds... ok.

Wont Move in Neutral engine running or not.  I think that Once In Neutral (Stopped and Shut off) It seemed that I could MOVE IT  Forward or back by hand power.. but not now??? I Put the rear end on Blocks and When TURN The Rear wheel by hand in neutral- ONE WAY- The Other Wheel goes the Opposite way? But When Running and in GEARThey Both Go FORWARD ok..... Got Me Stumped... HELP? caryb1999@gmail.com

APRIL 17, 08 FIXED Problem.. Linkage For BRAKE Was Too Tight...Locked Up Brakes when release clutch pedal...Now Works Fine.

2nd Question: My First Sears Mower has TWO  Blades (38 inch cut).. The newer one has TWO SETS OF BLADES on each side. Was that Standard? Or For MULCHING?, Or Can I Simply use TWO Blades.. instead of those FOUR? Thanks.    caryb1999@yahoo.com
