Re: Used Power Clear

jrtrebor and aa335,
That was exactly the information I was looking for. I need all of the power I can get from a single stage, so going with one of the first attempts by Toro at a 4 stroke was making me nervous. The quick shoot control and price ($175) almost seduced me, but I've decided to take a pass without making the drive down for an in person evaluation. Here is the listing: http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/dak/grd/2872213649.html I'm sure it could be a good deal for someone, but the paved area around my garage is almost completely boxed in so I need all the distance I can get. I had been leaning strongly towards an Ariens 24" or 28" two stage, but I've decided to give a single stage a try. I'll keep my eyes open for an end of season deal on a new or recent used Toro. I might also consider a Honda 621 based on some of the things I have read. Thanks again!

Used Power Clear

I will go look at/buy a used Toro Power Clear 38585 tomorrow. This is the model with the 195cc OHV Tecumseh 4 stroke. I'm told that it runs well and the paddles and scrapper are in good shape. It will have been through 4 or 5 winters. What should I look for when I inspect the machine? How do I tell if the paddles/scrapper are in good shape? Are there trouble spots to watch for on this model?
I have been able to find almost no user reviews on the 38585 and found some information that it was primarily sold in Europe. However, the specks lead me to believe that it should perform similarly to the current 621.
Thanks in advance.
