Hartford59, you say previous owner painted over numbers, well some over spray could have gotten inside blower howsing and on flywheel. Pull cover off and check for over spray and clean magnets on flywheel. Alittle might not affect the current coming to the coil but slight chance it could tighten up air gap. You say you bought it cheap so some minor cleaning could be in order, and it's probably worth a new plug any way. Best of luck, Duke
