Ariens 520 939003 How to remove wheels?

I have an Ariens 520 939003 with two flat tires that want to replace. I'm trying to take the wheels off. There is a a cross bolt and nut on right side of the wheel. The nut came off easy enough but the bolt just turns and turns without coming out. Am I just supposed to yank it out and will that harm the thread?
