I have an older toro snow commander (mid-2000's) that the starter pull cord and electric start both went out last season. Have partially disassembled unit but don't want to go further without some advice. Is it worth replacing the electric start?? Can't seem to get a good handle on replacement costs and also, the pull cord assembly looks difficult to remove... Any advice?? Thanks in Advance. Mark
You don't need electric start. When running properly, these things start on the first pull usually and are fairly easy to pull.
Pull start shouldn't be that tough to remove. It's usually attached with three or four screws. You might have to cut the knot off the end has the handle on it.
Go to Toro's website, find support, and use the model number and/or serial number of your machine to find a repair manual. They will have one for your machine.
