Ground Hog Day
Original Message   Feb 2, 2012 1:04 pm
The little critter saw its shadow today, which means it will retreat back to its hole for another six weeks of winter.

There's still hope for some snow storms this winter.

Looks like this winter is a complete bust up here.  Just had my Honda out twice with very little for it to do both times.  Keeps my technique up to date, but I cuda done it with a shovel just about as quickly.

Any groundhog that pops it's head out of it's hole in my back yard, never sees it's shadow.  I pretty much make sure of that.

I'm not sure whether you don't like winter or those furry rodents.  Those things just dont stand a chance.

They're pretty tough on our garden(s).  If a groundhog finds your garden, it's going to raid it until there's nothing left.

Between groundhogs rabbits and deer, it's a full time job defending anything you plant.   Deer are generally more of a problem because people can easily dispatch a groundhog or rabbit.  Not so easy for a deer.  Thankfully, the wolves are back and beginning to bring the deer numbers down.

Maybe, but deer make better eating than groundhogs!

Wolves seem to like them.

Personally, I'll pass.  The diet that our deer eat (when not raiding our gardens) makes them pretty gamey.  Not nearly as tasty as your grain fed Saskatchewan grade "A" white tails.

Groundhog would likely taste better than our deer, if you can get one that the ticks haven't ravaged.
