Okay, novice question. I'm trying to replace a rod and piston from an old Tecumseh HH60. Tore it doen but can't get the piston out of the cyclinder. I tried pushing it up by the connecting rod but it won't clear the cylinder.

ya if its has a steel sleeve in the bore theres most likely a ridge a the top... if that is the case u MUST remove that ridge before u installing a new piston and rings or u will run a HIGH risk of cracking the new piston rings when go to fire the engine up.. u need a "Ridge Reamer" to do this.. if your gonna re use the piston and rings and just replace the rod then u could as trouts mentioned remove the crank and pull it out the bottom...
