Anyone know how to remove the translucent fuel cup in the picture above?  Is there a special tool for it?  I think regular pliers or a crescent wrench will
probably break it since its screwed in quite tightly.

I would suspect using the correct size open end wrench would work fine.

Its too fragile for a wrench...which wrench do you mean by 'open ended'.  If squeezed too hard, it will break.  I know it screws in and out, but its really tight.

I would use crescent wrench that is wide enough to get good coverage.  You can add thin plastic layers if you like or tape the crescent wrench sides with scotch tape.  Good luck.

An open end wrench or an adjustable wrench either one would work.  It kind of doesn't matter how tight it is. If you feel that you have to remove it.  Then put a wrench on it and unscrew it.
The worst that could happen is that it would crack and you would have to buy a new one.  If you don't have to take it off don't take it off. Those cups are always tight because the top
edge of it is seated on a rubber washer.  If you do remove it, before you put it back on. Rub just a thin layer of grease on the edge.
