Well, yes there is only half a tank of fuel left. And when i pull the plug to look in the combustion chamber it is dry as a bone. I have replaced faulty fuel pumps before on other equipment. There's not that much too it. Why would they have just abandoned this one?
We had 3 inches of rain last night and that tiller is sitting way out there. Up to its belly in a pile of wet manure that I was tilling under. I snapped the starter cord from pulling it so many times. Wish I owned a pair of muck boots. My shoes make a slurping sound when they sink into the manure. I may just leave it there with a tarp. The rain is supposed to stop Sunday. That should give me time to find a starter cord. Thanks for this info, this is my first Kohler.

If you have a mounting spot you can use a universal pump like the one below at Tulsaenginewarehouse for $10. UNIVERSAL FUEL PUMP Depending on mounting style, Replaces: Briggs & Stratton 491922, 691034, 692313, 808281, 808322, 808656 Kohler 24393 04, 2439304, 24-393-04; 24 393 02, 2439302, 24-393-02; 24 393 04, 2439304, 24-393-04; 24 393 16-S, 2439316-S, 24-393-16-S Fits flush mounted applications, Direct Interchange for Kohler Command, Kohler Courage, Honda GXV & GCV Twin OHC Engines. Works on select Briggs engines with the fuel pump mounted flush, will not work on Twin Briggs or Kawasaki engines if the fuel pump mounts upside down or recessed.
