I was picking up some Sta-bil fuel stabizer at Home Depot and saw this alternative sitting on the shelf "Star brite Star Tron"Instead of the 3-4 month treatment period listed by Sta-bil the blue Star Tron fuel treatment says it preserves the gas for a year.
Has anyone tried this alternative to Sta-bil? There is a significant cost difference between these two alternatives.
Sta-bil 's back label says the product can only be used for two years after opening. And while a regular maintenance dose is 2-oz per 5 gallons, the storage dose is 4 oz/ 5 gallons ($15.00 per 32 ounce container or $1.88 for 5 gallons of fuel)
The unconcentrated Star Tron's 8-oz bottle treats 48 gallons: $10 for a 8-oz Star Tron or only 1-oz per 5 gallons/ $1.25 for 5 gallons of fuel.
The concentrated version of Star Tron (dark label) is even cheaper: $31 for a 32-oz Star Tron treats 512 gallons. That seems to work out to 33 cents for 5 gallons of fuel.
