Its a fascinating web site. Check out this link:

If you poke around, you'll find all sorts of stories, explanations of what they think you should use when, and how they make it. I wish all the manufacturers would build this kind of site.

Wow, awesome units, a little big for my needs.

I noticed there are no prices. But a 44hp motor, and an auto chute control, etc ,etc, i'm thinking it would be in the $15,000 range.

We are now into the used bobcat range, with a blower attachment. Or a tractor with cutter, tiller and blower, and still 5k in my pocket.

But it would fun to drive down the block with that baby!

Very cool and the thing is they are single stage augers!

It's not so much the type (single or two stage) it's the auger size and speed  (larger diameter = greater tip speed for a given RPM), how much power is behind it, and how well the design is implemented.

This is what I replaced my 10 HP 28" track drive two stage with:

(sorry for the bad pic, it's dark in the back corner of the garage)

Hydraulic drive & lift, 21 HP, 900 RPM, 48" auger --  makes snow go away fast. Case/Ingersoll has been making this basically unchanged since the late 60's or early 70's. Mine is a 1983 and you can buy practically the same one new today.

Cool remote control but if anything went wrong that auger better have a kill switch on it.
