Oil for Ariens Sno-Thro
Original Message   Jan 22, 2011 1:50 pm
Hello, I'm attempting to purchase this Ariens Snow-Thro 5W-20 Oil (I think that's the one suggested in the manual), but am not finding it in the Canadian Tire store. Is there an alternative I can use? Sincerely, -DAWy

You don't have to use Ariens specific oil.  You can use any 5w-30 or 5w-20 oil.  W is for winter.

For oil type, you can use non-synthetic of a good quality but does not have to be the best or highest quality.  For synthetic I use the cheapest >>full<< synthetic I can find.  I use 5W-30 synthetic in all machines like yours.

Hey, Thanks for the help. I found the Mobil 1 stuff with a little help from one of their automotive guys. A bit expensive, but I'm going to give it a shot. By the way, Trouts, the gentleman Awho helped suggested the 'w' stands for weight, not winter. Just thought I'd let ya know. Sincerely, -DAWy
