They are called ARCTIC MITTENS  Military issue.  Old surplus.  The warmest things I have ever used. And believe me I hav e tried them all.  If you google BILLINGS ARMY NAVY you will find his sight. kellyinkc wrote:

depends on how long i'll be out and the temperature outside..... normally above 0*and just my drive only(usually up to 10 min.): no gloves and a baseball cap, if i stay out longer i wear the brown jersey gloves and cap with earflaps,   below 0* i add on work shoes instead of sneakers and a heavier coat.

A man after my own heart.

I've switched to steel-toed boots whenever I blow snow. I'm too old now to deal with a smashed foot, and I got a great price on close-out on insulted steel-toed red-wing work boots this past summer.

Steel + cold = hmmmm.

Check out these bad boys with Green Patch and electrical certification that I swung for CA$77.99 + 13% HST a couple of weeks before Christmas time.  They use composite materials instead of steel to attain the same protection level and to not get so cold.  "Comfort rated" to -100C.

Above 0 C you can probably get away with good ski gloves, but below that mitts are always warmer. One thing for sure, make sure you are not wearing anything that dangles, like long scarves or hoodie laces. Don't need that stuff getting caught in the machinery. I don't like wearing a coat with open sleeves that can get caught on the handles. Steel toed boots
can be good too, for those times when you've found out where the sunday paper disappeared to and you need to give something (the paperboy) a good stress relieving boot!

Cheers

Nice boots. I like how they're wrapped with rubber so even if you work in slush all day, you won't get water in your boots and your feet won't freeze.
