How about getting a hard hat and mounting it to the top of the hard hat?
It actually comes with a strap so you can wear it on your head. 
They also have tons of various mounting kits you can buy including one that uses a rare earth magnet! kinda pricey tho.
But yes you can mount it to a hardhat or a helmet. If you use it on a hard hat don't let OSHA see you.
