MTD makes machines with maker names of companies they have purchased.  The products now made have no relationship to the products once made by those well know companies.

MTD also makes limited runs for large and small chain distributors.  You can see the plethora of brands at the ordertree site.  In the listing there the factory numbers starting with MTD Mdl xxxxxxxxx like MTD Mdl 310-180-352 are drawings of these specific build and for what company.
