klik ring -- common part?
Original Message   Dec 13, 2010 1:02 pm
Somehow I lost the klik ring to one of the wheels on my blower yesterday.  I only noticed it because the wheels wouldn't lock -- it was in 'turn mode' the whole team -- really annoying.  When I put it away and started to check it out, I saw one of the wheels was about to fall off!!

I've called three dealers and none have ths part, which seems odd to me.  So, now I'm wondering, are klik rings so common that I can just go to the hardware store and match the size??

I believe what you are calling a Klik Ring is actually called a Clevis Pin and is available at Home Depot. Make sure you get the correct diameter as they come in different sizes.

My brother just had this same problem with his new-to-him 624E this past weekend.  He's not the slightest bit mechanical so he never thought about taking a pin from his old Snapper (which doesn't throw that well) and use it in the Ariens.  He just used the Snapper.  That's the first thing I said to him when he called - He's like "you're right, that would have been a good idea".

Anyways, I just got back from the hardware store where I picked up 2 for $0.65 each.  They are made by Hillman and are called Linch Pins.

aemeeich - could you post a reasonable size pict like 640?  If you need detail you would post a general with others for closeup detail.

Thanks for the replies. I found one at Ace that will work, but will still have to get correct part. The ring on the OEM seems to be oversized and the hardware store version won't flip down over the hub.
