Auger Shaft Grease Procedure Honda HS 928TAS
Original Message   Dec 13, 2010 10:20 am
Since the snow chewing augers ride on a shaft that comes pressed into the auger differential we have a metal to metal contact that must have a lubricant, usually grease.  The old MTD-Craftsman snowblower solved this with zerk fittings to pump grease into that shaft-auger.  The new HONDA HS 928 TAS Snowblower has no zerk fittings anywhere.  Does anyone know if there is a maintenance procedure for this in the Honda Shop manual.  the Owners manual has no mention of the auger shaft and what grease instructions there are have been limited to the auger directional shaft worm gear, and spray grease on the control handles below the hand grip panel.  I always prefer grease fittings that I can lubricate to these sealed surfaces.  I'm hoping I won't be taking the augers out so I can grease the shaft they ride on.  Does anyone know about any of this ?

There are no zeks fittings on the Auger Shafts.
I did a quick writeup here.

If you don't have marine antisieze...I'd probably just use a good marine grade grease to prevent washout.

Good luck. It's a fairly easy job that could be done in 30 minutes tops.

If you have an air compressor you can pump a good amount of grease in the bolt hole on the side of the bucket and then push it in with air from the compressor until you see it coming out near the sheer pins.
