Yeah I saw that, oopps. However a few weeks ago that was not even on the site. That price is rather steep too. They must not have gotten a current photo.
Still no snow to try out the Toro

Lots of places are starting to get snow already. We've had flurries already. Some bad storms out west. Your turn will come.

Darn it.  It's that time of the year to put on the snow tires again.  I hate driving on gummy bears for 5 months out of the year.

First video

It's hard to see that the one on the left is a Simplicity.  It's all black, maybe it's a Sno-Tek model.

This is a good video....I was trying to find a recent post about someone else debating whether single or 2 stage.

Granted factoring in drivetrain loss...there are sheer benefits with 2 stages for EOD (metal augers, and the momentum of breaking things up,  fed and then thrown out the chute).
As much as some of ya'll will say , eeeww a black bucket Ariens, the compactness of it is a nice medium to have for those on the edge of single vs. 2 stage with space constraints.

Hehe, and this was where you started.  :)  Now you have 3 snowblowers, and a new shed.

Black Ariens is a no no, any brand name with "tek" or "tech" implies cheap, disposable.

IMO, red, orange, green/yellow, and blue are the only acceptable colors for snowblowers.

The one on the right (red machine) was EXACTLY How I remembered my experience with my previous 520.
I would not even attempt to use it on a ~wall~ as I knew it's limits.

On wet, heavy, 1-2 inch stuff that you saw in that video, it would just dribble or spit out 6-8 inches out the chute.
Pretty useless....

I could Dance with the Single Stage in every other aspect of the snow - it's just the EOD that kills you.

So for all you guys out there debating whether you want/need a 2 stage or single, consider the EOD and the sheer differences - metal vs rubber augers, the effects of the EOD and metal vs rubber augers, and how it will throw that EOD snow. I feel like I'm preaching to the choir, but I think this is one of the 1st youtube video that I've come across that shows even a *BASIC* low level decent 2 stage machine can do with wet snow as opposed to a single stager. YMMV, but this video really brought to heart why I knew deep down I needed a 2 stager when I originally had my heart set on a single stage
