I asked about a week ago for suggestions on Ariens or Toro. I went to look at another Toro dealer today who also sells Simplicity. They only carry the Pro series. Well the P1524E is a very nice machine but it $1750 compared to around 1400 for the Ariens or Toro.$350 more over the life of a blower is not much. I had my Ariens 824 for 28 years. I like everything about the machine except I am not sure about the chute motor. My blower is kept in an unheated shed. Should I have any concerns? Someone said in an earlier thred that they have had one for two years with no problems. I just don't want to spend $125 every couple of years for a new motor.

I need to choose soon before someone on here makes me look at the Honda's and then I will go completely broke. Funny thing is when I first decided to get a new blower this year I figured around $700. Then 1400 now 1750. Get me out of here.

Did you say Honda?  Have you looked at the Honda lately?  Just kidding...

I'm sure Simplicity has models below $1700 if you don't want to spend that much and worry about the electric chute, look at the intermediate dual stage models.  I also suggest you look at the Deere 827E which is around $1100.  It has manual crank chute.  This model is in line with the Ariens you currently have, solid model without excess frills.

I like both the Deere and Simplicity snowblowers.  The P1524E that you are interested in was one of my favorite models in consideration while I was shopping for a showblower.  It was high quality, compact, and powerful.   The Deere 1330SE is a sweet machine.  They costs more, but they do have something more to offer.

I don't have any worries about the electric chute motors.  As long as you don't abuse, neglect, and leave your snowblower outside in the elements without some cover or shelter.  Is there any reason why you can't bring your snowblower in a warmer storage like the garage? 

The Simplicity dealer in my area only sells the Pro model. I have only seen the Deers at Lowels and I want to buy from a real dealer although in 28 years with my Ariens it only went in one time for service.

As far as putting the blower in a garage, It's a detached garage and my wife's Honda Pilot is about all that will fit in there.
