Honda EX 350 generator will not stay running
Original Message   Oct 13, 2010 6:37 pm
I have a Honda EX350 2-stroke generator.  Somebody gave it to me and told me if i could get it running, i could keep it.  Which brings me here.  At first i pulled the starter rope and it wouldnt even pop.  There was spark, clean air filter, and gas/oil in the tank, so i thought it was a fuel delivery problem.  I took it apart, took the carb out and soaked it in some berryman chem dip to maybe clean out some carbon deposits. I also cleaned the spark arrestor and muffler, which were dirty.  Then i put it all back together.  Nothing changed, it still wouldnt start, on choke or anything.  I then dropped a little gas in the cylinder, and i started right up, but quit right away.  So i know its a fuel problem, but not sure whats causing it.  I also poured some seafoam in the air intake and it ran for a while, but quit.  I got it to run a little on just gas without pouring any seafoam in, unless there was still some seafoam in carb.  Either way, it doesnt stay running.  Just wondering if anyone has any thoughts about what could be the cause??  Any help would be much appreciated.  Thanks

I don't know much about Honda carburetors, but that sounds like a dirty needle valve or even a stuck float.

don't know if you solved the problem but since you cleaned the carb my guess would be a crack in the fuel line and its sucking air, had an outboard motor and lawn mower like that. replaced the supply line and all fixed

Is the float on upside down?,   also in the link #10 is the biggest problem..(plugging with gummy deposits)

IF the carb is clean then l would check for crankcase pressure which works the fuel pump.
