I have been looking at a new blower. Ariens or Toro 826OXE or Simplicity. All around 1400 dollars. I found one shop the will no longer be selling Toro's because of finances and I can get the last Toro they have for 1450 dollars for a 1028OXE. He said he would still service it and he was a Toro dealer for 26 years. It is more blower than I need but I don't mind having more power.

You can never have too much power, but, will the extra 2 inches of width + the weight cause more trouble than it's worth trying to maneuver  around obstacles & getting it out of & back into it's storage locations in & out of season?

I don't think that will be a problem.20 lbs difference so I don't think it will be a huge deal.

Toros can be serviced by any authorized Toro dealer. It's a great machine!

I've been shopping in that price class and find the Toro to be one of the 'tinnier' models out there. My preference would probably be a Simplicity/Deere/Snapper (the Deere 30" is very feature rich for its $1500 price) or a Husqvarna Crown (not the low end model). After that, Ariens, which you can compare side-by-side with Toro at Home Depot. You don't have to trust me, you can check for yourself.

The Simplicity/Snapper/Deere and Husqvarna also have handlebars that seem better designed for removing snow. If you press on their grips, as if trying to add traction to the tires, the nose says down and the force goes to the wheels. Doing that on the others it raises the nose. IF Ariens had a similar handlebar, it would be in my top preference group.

The fact is Toro is a tough machine and they sell a lot of them every year. They last and throw snow well.

I hope the OP does not listen to you since he will be saving $400 on a great machine, the same one I bought last year and I am very happy with it.

Your claim to a Toro is you bought one. In post after post you prove again and again you know very little about what makes a snowblower work. You aren't even good at insults; about the skill level of Nancy Pelosi.

As far as the Toro, since you own one, take a look. Tap on the scoop that makes an MTD look strong. Look at the brackets welded around to reinforce the design that was too thin to work on its own. That plastic joy stick does work, although it looks more Mattel than Catepillar. Go to sleep at night in the knowledge that even if it isn't the best snowblower, the Toro in your garage is one of the most expensive.

The Honda is a great machine, as is my Toro. Gotta take more vids this year. Maybe more snow this year so I might be able to get some measured distances.

I think we all picked the machine that would fit our needs.I prefer less on my machine so I picked the Simplicity pro w/out the electric shoot 2 yrs ago.And it's built like a tank.Steve had to take into account that his wife would have to use it.So Toro was the right machine for him and he enjoys the chute control and its a well built machine.AA prefers Honda track machine which is also a great machine.Steve what do they charge you for routine maint?Also do you take it to the dealer or do they pick it up?And what do they charge for the pickup/drop off?

 to get my honda out and about ..

I saw  another snapper for sale,( 8 hp) I might have to grab it!!

That will get my inventory back up to 4 machines!!

Please post more videos on you-tube I enjoyed the ones you posted last year...

They have a special in October $99 where they check everything. They charge $65 to pick it up and drop it off. There is another dealer but they are not happy with me over a misunderstanding from 2 years ago so I don't go to them. But they are cheaper. After this year I'm going to find an independant mechanic to work on it. That should be cheaper than the dealer. The pickup charge is too expensive considering they drive past here all the time. The Honda dealer doesn't charge for pickup and delivery if you are getting service done.

Thanks, This winter we are planning on doing more videos, including a measured distance test, where we throw the snow to the left, right and straight and measure how far the 1028 throws it. Hopefully my wife will get a bit better at driving it and I can get some vids of her driving it around as well.
