Omark Chippit
Original Message   Jan 24, 2005 5:16 pm
Along with my AriensST824 project, I picked up an Omark Chippit Model 800G Chipper a few weeks ago. Built like a tank (cast aluminum body), removable "shredder" and "chipper" feed funnels. Same as the one being sold on Craigslist in San Diego, except mine is missing engine and drive pulley.
I already asked the seller in San Diego if they had any manuals or info- nothing available.
I asked what manufacturer/ model engine it had, but no further response.
So...
Does anyone have any info on this one? I was told it was an 8HP, but not sure. I may have a 10 HP Briggs coming my way, it would be nice if that was what was on it originally.  Drive pulley diameter would also be helpful, although I could probably figure out something close (as long as I don't drive the chipper so the knives go supersonic-ha ha!)
As usual, thanks to all for any help.
Ralph

I wish I could help, I googled the brand and all I got was your own posts on GW.
Maybe someone will know?

Just an update (for the one other person in this world that might own one of these chipper shredders):

I found that Omark was sold to Oregon, which was later sold to Blount.  I saw no mention of Omark on Blount's website.

I emailed Blount's customer service, who put me into contact with their Oregon Outdoor Equipment Products division (still around), who sent me to Oregon Chain division, who told me that this line was purchased by Billy Goat Industries.  Billy Goat Industries got right back to me.  While they no longer sell or provide parts for this unit, but they did send me an owner's manual.

It originally came with either an 8 or 10 HP Briggs.  I still don't know the chipping capacity.  I guess I'll find out.

They gave me a rough date of early 1980s for this machine.

I just picked up a Chippit chipper from Craigslist. It runs and looks sturdy enough. How do I  get into it to sharpen the shreader blades?

mine looks like it has an 8 hp on it.I just got it running today. To sharpen the blades take out the bolts around the outside od the base of the unit. It should then lift off and you can access the blades to sharpen them. Can anyone send me the link to the manual.

Happy shreading
