Toro 524 shear pins & zerks!
Original Message   Jan 30, 2010 10:54 am
 Good Morning,

I have a Toro 524 model # 38040  Ser. # 900163 if you read my other post you will find out the trouble I'm having with her Thank you.

What I would like to know is & foregive me as I'm not up on this stuff but where are the auger shear pins & what do they look like & do? Also what are zerks & what do they look like & do?

I have heard of shear pins before but never zerks I would like to check them as a person on this forum told me to & like I said have no clue where they are or what they look like.

 Thank you!

  Will,

You are correct Toro doesnt call them shear pins or shear bolts.  I looked at the parts drawing and they appear to be the same as mine.  There is a steel spacer that is used along with the bolt and nut.  Yours must not have broken so your good to go.  Normally if the pin or bolt shears the auger will not rotate.
