Does this Hi Performance Impeller Kit Part# 532187724 fit my new Husqvarna 15530SB-LS?
Original Message   Jan 24, 2010 1:00 pm
Hi!

Does anyone now if this Hi Performance Impeller Kit Part# 532187724 fit my new Husqvarna 15530SB-LS?  I am not sure if this kit will fit because it is a new model for 2009 and i think older huskys used the Tecumseh engine and mine has a 15.5 B&S Snow Max. Do they have same drivshaft dimensions so same pulley`s can be used on both engines. Or is it other reasons why this won`t work? I think this kit will give me the same performance as the PRO series huskys that have HIGH SPEED IMPELLER? The only difference i`ve found in the 15530SB-LS and 16530SB-XLS part`s is the impeller pulley and impeller belt. Am i far of?

Philip

I'm not 100% certain but I do plan to install this same kit on my Husky clone probably next weekend.  My Craftsman has standard B&S 14.5 Snow series "non-max" engine.

All my research would tend to say this kit will work for you.  I got this kit for $30 off of eBay.  This replacement pulley is 3.75 inches in diameter

Thank`s Snowmachine!

I think your right, so i just ordered the kit from Jacks Small Engines.  I could not find it on Ebay so i had to pay $66 for it.

I also ordered the Snowblower Impeller Kit from Clarence`s. Can`t wait to modify my Husky!

I got the deal I did through some liquidator who was probably clearing out inventory of some unfortunate dealer who wasn't able to make it in the current economy. I am going to put the Clarence kit on mine as well. Geronimo332 wrote:

My past mods have been as follows:

Past Mods:

-Hour meter/tach

-Wire looming cabling

-Auger bearings

-Retainer clips added to drift cutter thumb screws (prevent loss)

-Poly skid shoes

Here is my pending mod list:

-Husqvarna High Speed Impeller Kit (larger auger pulley & wider diameter belt)
(Pictures above)

-Clarence Impeller Kit

-B&S fuel shutoff valve (mine didn't come with one but easy to add)

-Chute deflector extension (you may already have this on yours)

Wow, snowmachine!

You are sure dedicated!

Thanks a lot! Some nice mods there. Im sure gonna copy some of them.

-I already got the hour meter/tach, just ned installing.

-Wire looming cabling, is that to prevent snow and moisture? Sure looks sweet. I might add that mod as well.

-Auger bearings, (original equipment)

-Retainer clips added to drift cutter thumb screws, that mod is in the plans.

-Poly skid shoes. Looks damn good! Where did you buy them?

-Husqvarna High Speed Impeller Kit  and the Clarence Impeller Kit  is in the mail.

-B&S fuel shutoff valve, was alredy installed on mine. Nice to have for safety when not in use. In case of carburator overflow!

-Chute deflector extension (you may already have this on yours), yes this was standard.

- I am thinking about the Auger Weight kit as well, what do you think about that?

• I put wire looming in there for some moisture intrusion as well as abrasion.  A lot cheaper to replace the looming than the cabling.
Although it is under warranty I was looking at the long term.

• I got the Poly slide shoes off of Amazon
http://www.amazon.com/Arnold-490-241-0010-Universal-Slide-Throwers/dp/B002MRM6KQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=hi&qid=1264710149&sr=8-1

• I'm still thinking about the auger weight kit.  I think mine could use a little more weight in the front.

I will report back on distance.... I think that is going to be quite noticeable.

I thought about adding on heated hand grips but I'd have to modify the electrical on the motor..... Maybe next year :-)

I wonder how much weight each bar adds?  Is your intake 30 inches wide as well?

A fairly thick piece of steel with this Toro accessory.   Still looking for a picture of the Husky version. I saw one last year.

This Ariens ones is 10lbs.  The Toro one above almost looks 3x thicker so maybe 30lbs?

Got my impeller pulley and belt today.

Had to order the parts for the Husqvarna 16530SB-XLS that has "high speed impeller " as standard,

since Jack`s Small Engines didt have the Hi performance kit in stock.

So i just ordered the parts from a shop here in Norway.

I didn't realize you were in Norway.  Cool!

You are probably going to have kit on yours before I am. :-)

I am curious if dimensions are the same on you kit.

Here are rough specs on mine:

Belt Diameter:  5/8 inch / 1.5875 centimeters
Pulley Diameter:  ~3.622 inches / 9.2 centimeters

The Pulley Diameter on mine is 89mm. Part # 532 42 64-92

I still have to wait 3-4weeks before i get my snow thrower. I ordered mine from Amazon for $1283 with free super saver shipping.

It`s now on a boat over the Atlantic on its way to Europe and Norway.

The snow thrower will cost me about  $1950 total with norwegian tax and for the shipping over the Atlantic.

But`s that`s cheep, as almost the same Husqvarna model ( same spec) here in Norway called ST276EP  cost $3900.

No kidding! Is that crazy or what? The local dealer got a shock when i told him the reason for why i ordered the parts(impeller belt/pulley),

since the norwegian ST276EP have hi speed impeller standard. "Have you ordered a husqvarna snow thrower from USA" shaking his head like he

tought i was crazy. That was untill i told him i got it delivered at my door for $1950. He mumbeled something about

him not even getting it for so low cost into his store from Husqvarna Norway.

Notice "NO HQV" on the impeller pulley plastic bag, stands for Norwegian Husqvarna. Still made in USA. (bottom left, under the barcode)

REMHJUL stands for Belt Pulley

Parts waiting to get installed (hour timer and Clarence`s impeller kit)

Wow!  I thought the Canadians got the shaft on pricing!  Amazing savings you got there.

It sounds like pulley diameter is the same.

Here is general video after installing the new auger pulley and belt.

http://picasaweb.google.com/audreyappliance/2008Craftsman145TorqueRatingSnowThrower#5437431143452072306

I can tell fan and auger are spinning noticeably faster.

I went and tossed some wet snow that was around 35 degrees.  I measured it out and it appears most is falling in the 38-42 foot range.  This is further than when I throw powder.  I think Clarence kit will get me to 50+ feet.

The only problem I have found is that I might need to buy the associated Husky plastic belt cover case.  The Auger pulley wore a significant slice into cover that slightly pushed cover out a small piece on exterior but didn't cut through.  I'll take a picture of it later.

EDIT:
This is the $10 belt cover I might need to pick up.

I have installed the bigger pulley and the impeller kit now and it throws snow like crazy.

The only complaint i have is that i think mayby the clarence impeller kit did make it into a big air fan, as it

make a big "white out" when the snow is fluffy. I`m not sure if it is the increased speed of the snow or

if it is that it now also blows a lot of air as well that make some of  the snow disolve in mid air.

I also found a picture of the Weight bar installed on a Norwegian Husky! As you can see it is installed inside the bucket!

It's been a terrible snow year on the west coast. I probably won't get to try my Clarence kit out. The Impeller kit upgrade made a huge difference though. I'm still waiting on parts from M&D for some of my other mods. Geronimo332 wrote:

It`s been a terrible snowy winter in south of Norway (where i live) as well, so this

snow thrower was one of my best investments!

I just installed my own made Weight bar`s (made two) and it made a nice  difference.

My local dealer wanted about $150 + freight, so i decided to make my own.

I found a stainless steel bar on my job. It mesured 10cm width and 10mm thicness,

i cut two bar`s 61cm long and drilled two holes in em. By looking at the picture i guess i have double the

weight than the original part (my bar`s is hanging about 10mm lower).

I didn`t weigh it but i guess my bar`s is about 15-16Kg.

I had to purchase larger belt cover since the bigger pulley was rubbing on the case.

Also added the deflector extension.

Hey Guys, Sorry it's a bit late and I'm new but I have to ask. I was reading this thread and inquired at the Husq dealer about the high speed impeller kit for my rebranded Husq ( Craftman 13hp30 model # 944-526800 ). It came with a pulley only and the dealer said he had changed many but didn't need to change the belt nor did it come with a belt in the kit. So, I went home and changed it but found it to be too tight on the idler, really tight actually. So, I would like to know what belt is suppose to fit this application. My old belt is a 5/8" x 37 1/4" and I am chasing a replacement. Could anyone point me in the right direction. Also is this the cover you installed to get your desired clearance? I copied this from your post... http://www.m-and-d.com/AY-409161.html?id=n79iL6TA&mv_pc=122

I am a bit confused here with the modifications you guys are trying to make. My money is on the engineers that designed and built the snowblower.  Increasing the pulley is a silly idea all you may accomplish is placing additional loads on the engine reducing the performance of the snowplower in deep or heavy wet snow. The other mod talked abought is a silly impeller kit once again all you are doing is placing additional load by increasing the friction on the impeller. One other point with the impeller kit if installed you better make sure the impeller area is free of icy snow or you will do serious damage to the belts or the main auger bearing  when you start the machine next time. If you want to make sure your snowblower is working as designed make sure everything is set-up as per factory specs. Oh yes if you want the impeller to spin a bit faster why not increase the engine rpm by 100 and go and screw with something else.

My two sense worth. Later

I’m looking at putting an impeller kit on my Ariens.  I usually like to acquiesce to the expertise of the engineers but sometimes what the engineers design on paper isn’t what comes off the assembly line.  My Ariens has 1/4 to 3/8 of an inch clearances between the impeller and the housing.  Other Ariens machines have much tighter clearances of 1/8 inch.  Sometimes when quality control misses the standard you have to take matters into your own hands.

Edgenet, I'm not looking for criticism just info so your opinion is neither wanted or valid. Besides, the "engineers as you put it" made the high speed impeller kit and they are engineered for some of the husq models of the same hp which they feel IS enough to handle it. We're not talking about a 6hp here, more like double that and years ago a 8-10 hp with a 30" cut was doing the same so a 13hp+ will have no trouble carrying the extra load. I'm working through with a solution! If you don't want to do it to your machine that's your choice...Here's your 2 cents back!

Don't worry about him, he was here a couple months ago asking which blower he should put a 13 HP GX390 on and what size pulley he should use :)

Gotta love the 2 cycle oil mixing tip by color.  I guess it's too hard to read mixing table.

Thanks Guys...I hate guys like that! I am waiting on a new belt to come in and I measured the old one which was tight, 37&1/4" so I ordered a 5L390W which is a 5LK390 heavy duty to try which should be 1 3/4" longer to see if it fits OK. I may have to go to a 40" (5L400W) but it's only less then $20 so I'll give it a try. Would be nice to know what the belt for the kit is suppose to be but Oh well, trial and error. I'll figure it out!

I'll see if I can pull a part number off the belt tomorrow. After mid January the snow season turned barren here so haven't used the blower in over a month. wolverine wrote:
Thanks Guys...I hate guys like that! I am waiting on a new belt to come in and I measured the old one which was tight, 37&1/4" so I ordered a 5L390W which is a 5LK390 heavy duty to try which should be 1 3/4" longer to see if it fits OK. I may have to go to a 40" (5L400W) but it's only less then $20 so I'll give it a try. Would be nice to know what the belt for the kit is suppose to be but Oh well, trial and error. I'll figure it out!

Unfortunately part number is distorted enough on belt I can't make it out.

I am just guessing here as I have never done it myself, but I wonder if a little math would work.

Diameter of large pulley x 3.14 = circumference of large pulley.
Diameter of small pulley x 3.14 = circumference of small pulley.

Half of the large number - half of the small number should give you the extra length needed, than add that to the original length.

It might not be perfect, but it might give you an idea.

Boy oh boy no room to  voice an option here, we must be in some 3rd world country ruler by a very smart dictator Sorry.   Let’s all go and increase the engine pulley size and yes lets all go and drill holes in the impeller and add some silly  rubber pieces and while we are add it why not add larger wheels that will make the snowblower go faster.  Now let’s see what else the engineers screw-up so we can correct.  Just my opinion

Plastic chute liner would be nice on machines with metal chutes.   A little self contained air compressor to blow the snow off of the machine after working would be sweet.

Peformance performance stop!!!! snowblowers are made to clear the snow from the driveway, this is not a throwing contest!!!! Security is the word that you guys are missing here, it's important to have a clearance between impeller and housing because any object enterring there would make the auger stall and break the shear bolt, otherwise with impeller kit it would be thrown away and hit someone in the face come on guys be serious a bit :)

Just installed the new belt from Napa. Original belt was 37 1/4" long and to accomadate the larger pulley went with a 39" belt so a 5L390W works well. Now just need the part #'s for the larger pulley/belt cover and bearings for the auger....
