how hot should ariens hand warmers be? and deflector ajustment.
Original Message   Jan 23, 2005 5:59 pm

With the hand warmer,,,,,,,,how hot  are the handlebars supposed to get. is it just slight?   If it is more than slight is it possible that a wire is loose?   wouldnt have chosed the option but if it is ther it should work as intended.

2) the deflector keeps popping up. i have tighrned the nut below the panel many times. scared of overtightening? should i just keep on tightening??

thanx

Do you have heavy gloves on?  I tried my 926 DLE yesterday, and they didn't seem to get as warm as my 1128 LE did.  It just came to me that I was using it with heavy gloves on, and it was 20 degrees out.   That could have prevented me from feeling that heat.  Also, give it 20-15 minutes to feel the heat.  If you have tried all those things, probably time to have a dealer check on it.

Hi...

"2) the deflector keeps popping up. i have tighrned the nut below the panel many times. scared of overtightening? should i just keep on tightening??"

Nut below the panel... is this a remote controlled deflector ?
Is there a connection that can be tightened on the discharge chute itself ?

Is the deflector not controlled remotely ...
...try adding a star type lock  washer (or split type lock washer) to one or both sides of the connection bolt/nut...

Are the nuts loosening ?
If so... try using locking nuts...

After you are through tightening the nut, the lever should be fairly tight to move.  That is how mine is.  Next, you might want to look at the cable adjustment for the deflector.  Tell us how it goes.

a)t he deflector is a remote. there are inkage adjustments and`the nut under he controls thst i have tightened.

as to the hand warmers i took off my glove. the ruber handle bar grips felt just slightly less cold than the frame.

the machine had  been running for quite some time.

How long was the machine running before you felt the handgrips?

Remote... OK...

Is the any hardware on the chte's joint than can be tightened ?
If so... maybe try adjusting there...

...or follow the Owner's manual...

Was this a light or heavy snow when this happened... ?
If a light snow... then there's a problem...

Solara- Are you sure you are tightening the right nut/bolt? It should have a coil spring that you are putting tension on while your tightening the nut/bolt. What I did when I got mine was tighten it until you can't move the remote deflector at all then back off a turn and try it and back off and try until you can move it and stop there.  - Kris

I have the 1128...I have melted a part of my gloves with the hand warmer, yet when using without the gloves it does not seem very hot...strange huh.
