Getting ready to go out and put my Simp. Pro to work.Just received 20"  and I'm sure my blower is up to the task.Snow in the fall(Dec. 21 is officially the 1st day of winter).Yee ha thank God for global warming lol...Where's Al Gore now???This snowblower will pay itself off in a couple of years due to what people charge around here to clean out a driveway as large as mine with this much snow.So for people who say they use it only 2 or 3 times a year,it still will be cheaper than using a company unless you just can't physically do it.And some of these guys come barreling down the driveway and just drop that blade on the driveway.I watched one guy do my neighbors driveway .I lost count how many lights he hit and you could hear that blade dropping on the blacktop.

Yeah. If you live in a area where lots of snow accumulates and you're physically capable to handle the machine, an efficient, well balanced, powerful snow thrower will make the job much easier. Even as we get older, if we stay in half decent shape and the machine is well designed/easy to use, we can continue to be up to the task. I really dislike receiving small amounts of snow. The little dustings are no fun at all. Give me lots or don't give me any!

Around the midwest, we've been getting teasers snowfall of 1-3".  Not quite enough to get out the big guns, but heavy and slushy enough that shoveling isn't fun.  Perfect for the ol' HS621 single stage. 

Hoping to get a big snowfall around the holidays and new year time.  :)

I am north of Chicago and I can assure you we will get those big snowfalls that you are hoping for. Thanks Al Gore!

How well do the single-stagers handle the wet slushy stuff?
My old 2-stage Ariens isnt very good in slush..
would a single-stager better handle 2-4" of the wet slushy snow?

Both the Honda HS520 and HS621 single stage works well with slush.  Single stage with modern rubber auger designs and high horsepower typically do well with slush and they clean right down to the pavement.  The Honda HS1132 two stage also handle slush well.  I think the key is the tight impeller to housing clearance and high impeller speed.
