Came across this web site today, showing how to reset the hours on a Tiny Tach. Although the subject of this site is seems to be 2 stroke engines, I don't see why it shouldn't apply to the 4 stroke models. You could probably also add a small momentary switch to the unit and close it back up, allowing you to reset any time you want without ripping it apart again.
