I would like to put a light on but there is no alternator, i need something that will be bright but not to bright for clearing the sidewalks. Where i live it gets dark at 5:00pm at night.

If you have any suggestions please post them so you can help me out.

The problem I see is that anywhere you mount a light it will ether be too low or through the snow being blown...
I work all night on planes on the airport ramp, sometimes under the shadow of the plane from outside lights...

At work we ALL wear LED "miners headlamps", for 20 bucks you can get a headlamp that is brighter than a maglite flashlight...

This is the one most of us buy it costs about $30 bucks...

Use it once and you will always want it poor lighting, so much better than holding a flashlight with your neck..

Good Luck,

That's the way I'd go. Find a way to attach the light to your best winter hat so that it's always where you need it.

A person could mount one on a hard hat, get a winter liner for the hat and be set to go.

The 524 MTD Gold and other machines came with a light. You could search around for a dead one of those machines and get the components and install them on y our engine and body (inexpensive) or buy them new (expensive). Around here, eastern Massachusetts, there were a lot of 5hp MTD Gold machines sold so they show up often. I have one and holding on to it to plant the light on something in the future.

Yeah.... guys those parts are very expensive... ( It may need the flywheel with the extra magnets in it)

Plus he would also have to take the flywheel off to mount the generator.... ( that is a little tuff for most people that haven't worked on these before)

Those 6 or 12 volt lights are rather dim, the generators don't put out much current ...

I still like the headlight idea...
