I received a Toro  Model 20017 lawn mower. (2006 model)  It has aTecumseh LV195EA engine. It is difficult to start It was working fine all season and last week it started t oact up. Has new air filter and spark plug. It does have spark. My brother did replace the primer bulb. But it is not wanting to start. Any Ideas? dirty carb.

It might have a spoonfull of water in it.. (in the carb bowl). Take the bowl nut off the bottom and clean the hole in it, flush the area with carb cleaner, check to see if the bowl float and needle is allowing fuel in, reinstall the bowl and nut, and try to start it again...

Good Luck,

My brother took off thecarb and sort of messed it up. The seat for the needle valve was damage and needed replacing. I had the carb rebuilt and cleandd atthelocal dealer. 35.00. 1 dat service. Then the rope broke and I needed to have the rope replaced. I got ti back together and found the governor linkage was not installed correctly on the throttle valve. I straightend that out and it is running.  I need a new governor spring as my brother stretched it a little.

I should repaint the under carrage. Cheap Chinese crap! it is literally peeling off underneath.

Your Toro is Chinese? That's a revelation! Well, I guess I shouldn't be surprised. It seems that most manufacturing in North America has some sort of Chinese affiliation.

I had to replace the pull rope on the recoil starter. insidetherecoil pully was a made in China label. I 'm assuming a major part of the mower was fabricated or assembled there too. Maybe it is a stretch, but the under carraige paint is really failing to the point of scrape sand and repaint.

Don’t blame the Chinese.  Blame the entrepreneurs with clever ideas to take advantage of “foreign” labor.

Where are the iPods made?  Not in the USA, Japan, or Thailand.  Made in China, and proudly so.  Would patriotic Americans willing to pay 2 times for things made in the US of A?

Give it another 30-50 years and your children will blame products made in Afghanistan and Africa.
