model number 318 235 516 ......... Hi guys I have a snow blower that was giving to me and the engine works  fine but it wouldnt turn the wheels ...  I took the bottom faceplater  cover off and it seems one of the sprockets is brocken in half . The sheer pin must have not done its job .  Any how im not sure parts are made for this snow thrower anymore  so do you think i could weld this  sprocket back together

I have no idea how good your welding skills are.

Do a search on friction plate or speed control. There should be some stuff on how the traction speed control works, I would first suspect the friction disk before the sprocket.

Was the chain that goes on the sprocket coming off? If so then the tooth or sprocket needs to be replaced, if not it may be something else.
