It looks like the Troy-Bilt Polar Blast. I believe you are correct. It's made by MTD (of course) and I've seen them as Troy Bilts, Cub Cadets, perhaps others. Funny you should post this; I was just hefting one around at Lowes this afternoon. Big, rugged machine with cheezy coiled-wire-in-plastic-slots chute rotation control. Fortunately, they have "easy steer." BTW, Lowe's price was $2059, lowest I've seen for one of those new.

You would think to drive that in the snow you would need like an 18 hp. or something! You would. But then again Toro used to make a 32" wide machine with 7 hp if memory serves me correctly.

to me they are just not condusive to a driveway or manuverable for doing your sidewalk etc I dont know maybe they would be a great machine who knows seems awful $#%*bersome to me That probably depends on the driveway....200-300 foot long ? Maybe somewhere where plowing wouldnt work well if it piles up quickly?
