As I mentionned in another topic about my Ariens gearcase, I had to pull over the shaft inside the impeller, It took me 3 days total, what I use is: half can of liquid wrench, a 25 pounds sledge hammer, 3 inch vice, steel cutter grinder . At the beginning I was a bit frustrated but with patient I got it out. I found the part Ariens shat and gear assembly 52402600 for $109.00 CDN I think it's a fair price...

Did you use any heat ? I would have used a torch on the impeller (it's going to need repainting anyway) to make it expand relative to the shaft. While it was hot I would feed some penetrating oil into the crack between the two pieces then beat on it a bit. Repeat until done. You did good work. The price seems ok. Hope you can get the parts soon. Paul

Denis I would check the condition of the welds while its out and since you were hammering it. Also PB BLASTER for rust would have gotten in there much faster and worked easier. Allan
