Toro 824 Transmission Locking
Original Message   Dec 19, 2008 10:51 am
Hi,  I have a Toro 824 that someone gave me a couple of years ago.  It works great and I really like the job that it does.

Question that I have is that it seems to have locked in full time both wheel drive at some point and now it's very difficult to steer.  I don't have a manual for it although not sure if it would go into this detail.

Can anyone help?

Thanks,

Ken

Replying to my own post.....

I went to Toro.com and downloaded the manuals for free.  I found that this can be done in one of the other posts.  Apparently is was stuck in the Power Shift option and the wheels were all the way back.  It felt like we were moving a car try to push it while not running!  Got it shifted out of Power Shift now, what a difference.

I recently acquired an 824 Power Shift and found that its a real monster to turn in that position.  I think its for the deep drifts and piles when the front end wants to ride up.  You can also unlock one wheel and try it that way to make turning easier.
