Already sidelined with a back injury, Colorado Avalanche Joe Sakic had surgery to repair three broken fingers and tendon damage as a result of a snowblower accident at his home, the NHL team announced Wednesday.
Sakic had the surgery Tuesday night and is expected to miss about three months of hockey action.
"Joe's surgery was performed by a hand specialist," said Avalanche team doctor Andy Parker. "The procedure went well and he's expected to make a full recovery."

Oh my, I could never understand people putting their hand down the chute to clear it out. I know of a couple of people that have done this in my home town that total lost their fingers. He is very lucky to have not lost any of his. Hopefully this is a reminder to some. Shut off the machine, remove spark wire and use a stick or something if you absolutely need to clear the chute.
Cheers
