I did a bit of work on my blower engine a couple of years ago, adding some "convenience" items. This included a braided steel hose attached to a petcock that allows easy draining of the oil in the crankcase. I was changing the oil recently and noticed light scoring on my hand. When I examined the hose I found that there had been breaks in the wire fibre that made up the braided cover. these were sticking up and scratching my hand as it went rubbed the hose while fiddling with the petcock. I haven't decided what to do.
I also have the end of the hose covered with a brass cap so even if the petcock is accidently opened the oil won't be drained.
