I'm looking at buying a used, older 726.  Does anyone know how old these units can get and how i can tell the age i.e type of engine etc.  I hear they are pretty good units, anyone have experience with them? thx Rob

On the Toro line "most big stuff",  the first digit of the serial number is the year the unit ws made...you have to know wat decade it was made....

If it has a Briggs engine, the first 2 digits are the year the engine was made....

thanks for the engine info.  in the sellers ad it says it needs the chain link replaced...is this the wheel chains or do these machines have a chain drive? any idea of the price if the latter.  thx

Not sure,   chain is chain,    standard sizes...  number 41 or 35 are popular with outdoor equip.
