I have a 1986 Sears Craftsman and the worm gear went out on the auger gear box. There are no replacement parts available that I know of. I brought it into a local shop and they tell me it is toast since they can not find this part. Can anyone help me out? Is there a current part that I can substitute in for the old one? It is a Sears Model 536.884700 worm gear Sears PN 47801. This is a 20 tooth, left hand, 2 thread worm gear. Dimensions: ID-1", 0.870 thick, about 3" outer diameter(best guess since most of the teeth are gone). The manufacturer is Murray. Any help or suggestions will be appreciated.
