1979 Toro 824
Original Message   Sep 21, 2008 8:22 pm
Hey Guys,

I have been adjusting my Toro 824 and I noticed that the drive wheel for the reverse gears has a lot of play in it. The only thing attaching it to the shadt is what seems to be a shear pin. I just don't feel that it should have this much play in it. I was thinking maybe the shear pin/bolt was replaced with o\ne that is too small causing the reverse drive wheel to have play.

Do you guys have any input on this?

There's a good chance that the lock pin is worn.  Pull it out and inspect it.  If it's worn or looks too small for a proper fit, replace it.

I am noticing that the bore on the reverse drive disc is slightly larger then the shaft. This is what is causing the play. Is this normal?
