9 horse tecumseh compression
Original Message   Jul 3, 2008 5:05 pm
I have a 9 horse Tecumseh (Craftsman) chipper shredder with good spark that will not start. It has 25 pounds compression. Is that too low?

is that compression test done thru the sparkplug hole???  or thru the hole in the block????

Ouch.  That hurts.

I'd be looking to see if both valves are in.

You may have just a bit of carbon under the exaust valve..

Pull the head off and see if the valve is fully seated,  and examine the engine wear at the same time.

Good Luck
