Noma SnowBlower
Original Message   Mar 25, 2008 2:43 pm
To all,

I may have the opportunity to pick up an older (12 years) Noma blower for approx 300 CAD, it only operates at full throttle but the owner suspects that a carb job should do the trick.  It's a 10.5 HP tecumseh, new bearings in Auger and Impeller 2 winters ago.

I have never heard of Noma, so not sure what they are like and if worth looking at.

noma  is made by murray,  some of the chasis parts may be no longer available,  as for the engine its a tecumseh.  parts for this will readily be available.  carb kit should run between 10-15 buck, includes a new high and low speed needles, needle and seat, some o-rings etc.  labor will vary unless you do it.

Its also a good time to install new fuel and primer lines. They tend to get brittle and crack, especially with the methanol alcohol that is being put in the non-premium gasoline blends. You can download the Tecumseh technician's 3 to 11HP 4 cycle, L-Head engine manual from here.

Sounds like the low speed jet is plugged,  Does it surge when it trys to run at low or idle speeds?

Try taking the low speed jet out and spraying carb cleaner in the hole.  (low speed jet is just past the throttle shaft if it has a ajustable Jet)

Good luck,

Friiy
