1972 Toro 832 - 31820

Murphy's Law is nailing me this week. My beloved Airens 1032 1980? is shot. I found a 1972 Toro 832 that hadn't been used for 10 years...runs great however I was worried about the drum auger and no shear bolts as I went through a couple shear bolts a season with the Airens. Well today (second time I used the Toro) I scooped a rock and now the left auger isn't working. The right auger and the impeller work fine. I called Toro and explained, they said its probably the Carriage Bolts #8. I think its the HH Screw #54. Any help? Also, I need to lube the gear box, whats the oil I should use? Thanks, Abby's Guide has been a savior today. Still missing the Airens. https://lookup3.toro.com/Ill/1x/1/1797/0_267001.gif

Niper Thanks, got her fixed. Was the #54 HH Screw as suspected. Looks like it sheared thank goodness. Funny thing is I replaced it with one of my Airens Shear Bolts and nut - fit perfect. Thought about doin the other side while I was at it. Toro didn't make it easy to replace these though. Tomorrows the lube job, any oil suggestions for the gear box?

90W gear oil should do the job. Ron

ADK: I have the same exact Toro 832 and my RIGHT side auger isn't working but the left is. I was wondering how to take the auger apart to fix it, specifically the drive shaft in the middle of the auger. PLEASE RSVP if you can help. Thanks P.S.- I was also wondering what grade of bolt to use- 5? 8?. Can these be replaced with a higher grade to prevent them shearing off or will that put too much stress on the drive shaft?
