Differential oil for ?1976? Bolens?
Original Message   Dec 23, 2007 8:49 am
I picked up an old Bolens 726 off Ebay last summer.     The engine is a Tecumseh H70 made in 1976.   The blower was in pretty good shape- still had factory paint on the augers. [the shoes had never touched the ground, though- so the bottom of the scoop took some abuse and needed a bit of welding]

I've been tinkering long enough and finally have it almost ready for work.   The differential has me puzzled, though.    It has two little tubes, maybe 1/8-3/16" outside diameter, coming up from either end of the axle.   There are screws plugging the ends.     I'm guessing they are there to add/check fluid levels, but I don't know how much of what fluid to put there. [if any]

The differential has a big cast iron 'wing nut' on the right hand wheel.  I can take photos if necessary.

Thanks,

Jim
