MTD 10HP not so bad after approx 10 years..
Original Message   Dec 21, 2007 11:00 am
I've had an MTD 10HP for several years now...so far this year we've been whacked in New England with 3 good size storms and this unit has started on the 1st or 2nd pull every time and I do store in outside in the shed. I've been using 5-30 Mobil 1 and stabil since I purchased and so far so good, just regular yearly maintenance by me, oil change, plug change, tighten all bolts and lube...

I've been in the market for a new blower for no other reason as I just want a new one (like a car) but after reading all these posts on Arien problems I'm a little leery. Afterall the MTD does it's job and does it well for a cheapo unit...all I've done for repairs is change the friction disk twice in 10 years......is Toto a better quality than Ariens? Anyone in here own a Snapper? I'd go for a Simplicity but big $$$$..

I would hang on to your MTD blower, it's better built than the MTD blowers of today.

Another reason, this is the wrong time to buy a new blower, why??

Now, short supply,  Have to pay top dollar, and Not as many choices!

Wait till Spring or early Summer, you may find a great left over ! !  ! ! !
