Ariens Help
Original Message   Dec 20, 2007 8:36 pm
Hey guys, I'm new here but could use your help.  I have an old Ariens Snowblower (1979) - Tecumseh 10HP HM100 engine, model number 924044 with auger attachment (32") model number 824003.  I recently went through and freshened up the engine and installed new belts (traction and auger).  I do not have an Illustrated Parts List, but from the information I gathered online, the auger attachment belt is supposed to be 1/2" x 36".  Well, when I got it together, the belt didn't sit quite right in the auger drive sheave, and appeared to be a little overtight.  While blowing snow today, I threw the auger drive belt and tore it up.  The groove on the engine sheave is definitely for a 1/2" belt, but a 3/8" belt fits the drive sheave on the auger properly.  This machine has been in the family since it was bought new, and no parts have ever been changed.  Can anyone tell me what belt I need, or the numer for a replacement 1/2 drive sheave for the auger?  This has been a good machine, I just want to keep it going.

Thanks, Josh

I ordered a Stens (blue-belt) V-belt using my Arien's part number. I was disappointed in the quality. Even though Stens is a subsidiary of Ariens, the belt was no where as "thick" as the original. I went to my OPE dealer and they had the exact OEM Arien's belt. One manufacturer who has belts that are just as good as OEM (IMO) is Rotary.
